On the evening of August 6th 2010, the 65th anniversary of the atomic bombing of Hiroshima at the end of the Second World War, the Mayor of Hiroshima, Tadatoshi Akiba, gave a speech in Peace Memorial Park, a “Peace Declaration” calling for worldwide nuclear weapons disarmament by 2020.
Mayor Akiba delivered his speech by the Motoyasu river, with the A-Bomb Dome as a backdrop.
