Wow! The Basic Health Unit, Shamshatoo, Pakistan, Is Ready!

No sooner had I posted the previous blog post about the Basic Health Unit, near Shamshatoo, Pakistan, than we received news at the ANT-Hiroshima office that construction had been completed!

When we saw the photos we were amazed at how much progress had been made in a short time – and at how nice the BHU looks now compared to the situation at the end of 2010.

Ahmed Abbas, Director Operations at HOPE’87 – Pakistan, reports that the first project workshop meeting with the staff was conducted at the BHU facility. The BHU was also officially handed over to them although the unit will not actually start treating patients until next month.

Here are some photos that Ahmed-san sent of the completed building.

We can’t wait to post photos of the Basic Health Unit in action at last after all the difficulties the project and the local people have faced in recent years.
